The mountain biking scene in Nelson and Area has been around since the conception of mountain biking in the '80's. The many volunteer trail builders created a vast network of trails in the forests nearby Nelson. These trails consisted of steeps and skinny's that were the norm back in the day.
In the beginning these trails were gnarly and a person was hard pressed to complete a ride with all of their skin intact.
In the past few years, the trail building has evolved to add many new, more user-friendly trails, that are fun for all abilities. The comments on this page are intended for the intermediate rider with an average level of fitness.
Let me introduce you to three of the epic rides from three of the towns in the West Kootenays. We visit Nelson, Castlegar and Rossland for a look at trails that you will want to put on your wish list for the area.
